Mordhau RCON Discord Bot Configuration Guide

Welcome to the configuration guide for the Mordhau RCON Discord Bot. This guide outlines the steps for setting up and configuring the bot, crucial for managing your Mordhau game server via Discord. Remember, the security of your bot is as paramount as the security of your own account. Never grant access to your bot to anyone you wouldn’t trust with your keys and tokens.

Step 1: Preparing the Bot

The Mordhau RCON Discord Bot is pre-installed and ready for configuration upon order. Your task is to compile necessary credentials for the config.json file.

Step 2: Setting Up MongoDB

MongoDB is used for the bot’s data storage. Follow these steps to create a MongoDB cluster:

  1. Visit MongoDB's Getting Started Guide.
  2. Create an account and set up a new cluster.
  3. For the setup, choose AWS as the provider and select the region closest to your Mordhau server.
  4. Note down the connection details for the bot's configuration.

Step 3: Obtaining a Steam API Key

This key is essential for player lookups and linking to Playfab accounts.

  1. Register at Steam API Key Registration.
  2. Use your Mordhau server's name for the domain.
  3. Record the provided API key.

Step 4: Configuring the Discord Bot

To configure the Discord bot:

  1. Go to Discord Developer Portal.
  2. Create a new application for your bot.
  3. In the “Bot” tab, find the token, public key, and client ID.
  4. Keep these credentials secure and confidential.

Step 5: Editing the Config.json File

With your credentials ready:

  1. Open the config.json file in the bot installation directory.
  2. Carefully input the MongoDB details, Steam API key, and Discord bot credentials.
  3. Validate all information is accurate and securely stored.

Step 6: Finalizing the Setup

After editing config.json:

  1. Save the file.
  2. Restart the bot to apply the changes.

Security Reminder

Your bot’s security is crucial. Treat its credentials with the same level of security as your personal account information. Never share access to your bot with individuals or entities that you do not fully trust.
